Because our mission is to prepare our children for eternity, St Thomas Aquinas Classical Academy sees our most important and fundamental priority as the salvation of our students' souls. It is not enough to simply inform the hearts and souls of our students in the True, Good, and Beautiful; we must also teach them to express their internal love for the Blessed Trinity in outward acts of devotion.
To help foster this devotion, we dedicate each school day to the honor and glory of God through continuous acts of prayer. Hence, we begin every day by praying as a community for the assistance of Jesus and our Blessed Mother in our growth in knowledge, understanding, and the exercise of virtue. Additionally, our lunch hour begins with The Angelus followed by the Grace Before Meals, and a Prayer for the Souls Faithfully Departed, and ends with the "Thanksgiving after Meals" prayer. Finally, we conclude our day together with a prayer to our Guardian Angels to protect us on our way home.
Everything we do at St Thomas Classical Academy begins and ends with prayer and the dedicating of ourselves to the Most Holy Trinity.
Before morning prayers, we invite our families and students to join us for the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. These prayers are a beautiful Catholic devotion which assist us in developing a deeper intimacy with our Blessed Mother, who desires to ever and more intimately draw us closer to her Divine Son.
At STACA, students are exposed to many traditions and devotions of Holy Mother Church, including weekly praying of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Adoration, Sacramental Confession, the practice of Ember Days, etc... all of which help our students, faculty, and staff to be more disposed the graces Jesus and His Church offer to perfect ourselves for eternity!
