De Schola · About the Academy

A school built for permanence.

St. Thomas Aquinas Classical Academy is the work of Catholic families in Toledo, Ohio, who believe their children deserve an education ordered to eternity.

Our Story

Founded by parents, for parents.

STACA was conceived in conversation around kitchen tables and parish halls throughout northwest Ohio — among parents, priests, and teachers who recognized in one another a shared longing: a school that would form the whole child in the Catholic faith and the classical liberal arts.

We are not adding to an existing institution. We are building something new — and ancient. STACA opens its doors in the autumn of 2026 to welcome the first generation of students into a tradition older than the university itself.

Let us be the chain by which the Christian past reaches the Christian future.

John Henry Newman

Our Patron

St. Thomas Aquinas — the Angelic Doctor — stands as our heavenly patron. His life is the model we hold before our students: a life of piercing intellect joined to childlike piety, of rigorous study ordered to contemplation, of the pursuit of truth as an act of worship.

What We Believe

01

The Primacy of Parents

Parents are the first and most important educators of their children. The school exists to assist them, never to replace them.

02

The Truth of the Faith

Catholicism is not a flavor of programming — it is the air we breathe. Every subject is illuminated by the Light of Christ.

03

The Goodness of Children

Children are made in the image of God and capable of greatness. Our standards are high because our hope is higher.

04

The Beauty of Tradition

We do not invent. We hand on. Our curriculum, liturgy, and aesthetic draw on twenty centuries of Christian wisdom.
